Former Chicago cop and law-school dropout KIRSTEN DUGAN's a private eye, and her hubby, known simply as "DUGAN," is a lawyer, not above a little ambulance chasing, and together they run the Wild Onion, Ltd. Agency.

Author Walker, who also writes the Mal Foley P.I. series, is at least as interesting as his creation. He's been a priest, working with teens in a poor Chicago parish, and an investigator, looking into charges of police brutality, and he's currently a lawyer, defending fellow attorneys who've been charged with ethics violations when he isn't writing.
