More private eye action... comme vous l'aimez.
For years I've been waiting for a good P.I. procedural to come along on television. Something like Ed McBain's 87th Precinct, but with private eyes, following the inner workings and investigations of a working detective agency.
There have been a few noble attempts. Total Security (1997, ABC) and Eyes (2005, ABC ) come to mind, particularly the latter, which coulda been a contender. I'm sure there were a few others, but none of them quite did it for me. Either they were played for alleged laughs and skimped on the actual detective work, or soon devolved into a focus on one or two operatives, with the rest of the agency reduced to mere background noise.
But Détectives, a 2013 show form France, of all places, may just do the trick.
MHz, who are airing it in the States starting in November 2014, promise the "the quirky exploits of a family-run detective agency in Paris."
Idealistic loose cannon PHILIPPE ROCHE now runs the Roche and Son Detective Agency, much to the dismay of his pragmatic father MAXIME ROCHE. Thing is, Phillipe's not much of a businessman; he's in it for the thrill... and the babes.
Which is all well and fine, except that the family-run agency is going down the drain. In desperation, Maxime goes outside the family to hire NORA ABADIE, a sexy but no-nonsense former French intelligence officer, to get them back on their feet again.
Presumably hilarious hijinks and sexual tension will ensue.
