"As I entered my apartment I almost knocked over Irving."
-- Moody in Moody Gets the Blues
Irving, it turns out, is a house plant, and the speaker, SCOTT MOODY, is "not quite right."
It's 1978, and Scott has just been sprung from a looney bin in Spokane Washington. Ne's he's chugging Thorazine and working as a cabbie.
But a little hallucinatory chat with Humphrey Bogart has the former mental patient dreaming of a new career path.
Scott decides on a new career: private investigator. Works for me. A funny, off the wall debut, Moody Gets the Blues (1996) kicked the disco era right in its mirrored balls, and had a bit of fun with the P.I. genre, too.
It was followed by two sequels.
