Howard Moon Deer

Created by Robert Westbrook

Objibwa P.I. HOWARD MOON DEER has been around, but he eventually winds up back home in good ol' San Geronimo, New Mexico, working as a private eye for blind ex-San Francisco cop Jack Wilder's detective agency.

And although much ado is made in this series about Indian culture and traditional ways, Howard is definitely no stranger to the white man's ways, complete with a jones for coffee latte's, classical music, food wraps, and other decidedly non-Indian treats.

The fourth book in this series, Ancient Enemy (2001), was nominated for a Shamus for Best PBO.
