The Ice Forest (Kouri No Mori) is supposed an excellent
Japanese hard-boiled private eye novel written by Arimasa Osawa,
and published in 1989.
The author is best known, however, for his popular Shinjyuku
Same series featuring Sameshima, a loose cannon detective working
out of the Shinjyuku police station.
