Alex Cross
Created by James Patterson
Not an eye per se, ALEX CROSS is a police forensic psychologist
and best-selling crime author, trying to raise a teenage son and
daughter by himself after the death of his wife. But he's not
some theory-bound bookworm, safely pontificating in academia--he's
a formidable investigator who's willing to strike out on his own,
like some vengeful private eye, risking the wrath of local law
enforcement officials and taking chances when the stakes are high.
Or at least that's what I've been told....Have I been hornswoggled?
The critics may hoot, but the series has proved to be an extremely
popular one. A film of one of the novels, Kiss the Girls,
was produced in 1997, featuring Morgan Freeman as Cross.
In 2000, Patterson reworked an early novel, gave it a new title,
and gave the world former nun turned private eye Anne
Fitzgerald.
